About this Training

Microaggressions are examined through stereotypes about hair, this hair can be a symbol of one’s identity and a vehicle for discrimination and internalized oppression. This is especially true in African American and BIPOC communities.

Examples are shared from post modern artists, students, clients, clinical practice, and clinicians own personal experiences. A discussion ensues regarding how visual art can be a catalyst to bring awareness to cultural identity and address microaggressions pertaining to hair.
