Training Title: Rewriting the Script: Dismantling Racialized Sexual Stereotypes in Therapy
Time: 5-7 PM EST
Racialized sexual stereotypes have long shaped how folks of color have been treated. This workshop invites clinicians to examine the impact of these inherited scripts on both client experience and therapeutic practice, and what we can do to support our clients in moving towards a more affirming and embodied sexuality. Together, we’ll unpack erotic transference and erotic countertransference, and how racialized sexual tropes are absorbed, reenacted, or resisted in our work. Grounded in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and anti-colonial framework, participants will leave with a greater confidence in addressing the subtle and overt ways racialized sexuality shows up in therapy.
