About this Training

During this presentation, Darlene will demystify the testing psychologist's process for evaluation of Autism and ADHD, as well as discuss the reasons why certain populations remain under or misdiagnosed. You will gain an introductory understanding of the assessments available for these purposes, the qualifications for using them, the use of psychometrically validated instruments in the differential process, and cultural/linguistic/cognitive/gender considerations in the selection of assessments for the individual you are testing. If you have ever considered assessment, this will be an opportunity to learn more. Her goal is to break down barriers to continuing education and, in doing so, promote access to much needed services.

Darlene is a testing psychologist who owns a small private practice. She and her family immigrated to the US, leaving behind their homeland devastated from the effects of fascism. Her experiences inspired her to launch her career in social services and mental health. Darlene eventually returned to graduate school to become a testing psychologist, driven by the challenges she faced as a parent of a child with neurodevelopmental differences. She saw and experienced for herself as a neurodivergent person in a new culture, how systems of support did not connect, with each having different requirements for entry, leaving families lost.

She has since found her path through private practice, consulting, and advocacy. In 2023, she co-launched an edtech start-up focused on promoting access and culturally responsive care through quality professional development in areas often protected by the “old guard.” Many clinicians are unable to return to graduate school to further their education, nor should they need to with technology. Darlene’s mission is to promote greater access to progressive services for the community, through the promotion of practical training for clinicians, all within the neurodiversity, cultural, and gender affirming framework.
