About Your Trainers
Dr. Broderick Sawyer is a clinical psychologist, consultant, speaker, and the Director of Clinical Training for Loyola University Chicago’s Clinical Psychology PhD Program. He is the creator of Applied Liberation Psychology (ALP), a self-guided healing framework that helps individuals regulate their nervous systems, dismantle inherited belief systems, and reclaim energetic clarity and purpose.
Since earning his doctorate in 2018, Dr. Sawyer has led over 300 trainings, appeared in numerous national media outlets (including multiple interviews with CNN), and published nearly 20 peer-reviewed articles; his work centers on liberation-informed mental health, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and applied self-compassion practices.
Drawing on his lived experience as a former college athlete and long-time Buddhist practitioner, Dr. Sawyer integrates Eastern and Western psychologies to offer grounded, embodied tools for inner transformation. His model is accessible through his free Applied Liberation Psychology Workbook, available for instant download, and his growing menu of services.
Dr. Sawyer also offers targeted therapist consultation, supporting clinicians in refining their techniques, avoiding burnout, and integrating ALP principles to increase therapeutic effectiveness and deepen client impact. Learn more and explore resources at brodericksawyer.com.
