About Clinicians of Color, LLC

I’ve spent my entire life fighting to prove that I belonged and deserved to be in predominantly white institutions. ...I decided that wasn’t the fight I wanted anymore.

When I decided that trying to fit in, proving myself, being part of systems that didn't recognize my value, I knew I needed to make a change. I needed to use my voice, skills, and passion to create an opportunity that would allow me to thrive. I was the only Black provider working in an extensive well-known practice. I'll never forget the day that the office manager scolded me about using the word "yall ."It wasn't long after that I took my Ivy league diploma and got my uppity negro behind out of there. I literally moved into an office right next door to them. In a few years, their practice closed while mine was thriving! I never looked back. I enjoyed having a flexible schedule, making financial goals, and having creative freedom.
My practice is huge. That certainly wasn't my intent when I started as a solo practitioner. It wasn't until I realized that the communities I wanted to serve needed the services. I also knew that representation was necessary. At the point at which I went into practice, there were very few BIPOC providers in Delaware. So I listened to the call and knew it meant I needed to show up for the people I most wanted to serve.
Many years ago, I started the University of Private Practice. It was a simple platform designed to help BIPOC professionals get their practices off the ground. Then I met Kim Knight, and from the jump, we meshed well. Kim brings a background of not only being a mental health professional, but she has an MBA. Her business savvy is an excellent and easy choice for a business partner. Kim brings the calm, and I bring the storm. LOL. Since we met, I've watched her grow from a solo practice to a group practice and build a dope business that is meeting the needs of Black women in New York and Georgia. We changed tracks and founded Clinicians of Color, LLC because we knew other dope providers needed technical support, access, training, and community. Together we have helped hundreds of providers build practices across the country.
